The Guide to Winning Social Security Disability

- PREFACE -

I was born and raised in a typical small town in America. I remember being a happy kid who liked school and loved sports. As an adult, as a successful Business Manager, Consultant, and Contractor, I traveled, worked and lived in various locations throughout the world. I married a great lady, and we have two beautiful children. What more could one expect or want out of life?

Then, in 1999, when doctors told me I had cancer, my world started to fall to pieces! I was fortunate with surgery that resulted in all traces of the cancer being removed, and with no need for chemotherapy or any other such procedures. Four months following the cancer surgery, I was back at work. I had no idea of what lay ahead for me!

After the surgery, I lived and worked for about three years while continuing to suffer various after effects. The worst seemed to be the Chronic Pain. I took a new job in 2003, and tried my best to continue life as normal as possible. Then, in 2005, my whole world, and my life, seemed to crumble. My chronic pain from the surgery had become so weakening and wearisome that I could not continue to work. I started to have migraine headaches that were far worse and much more frequent than before. Numerous additional medical problems began to surface. I felt that my whole world was so uncertain that I lived everyday fearing some new complication would start, on top of everything else.

For more than a year, doctors were advising me to file for Social Security Disability. I refused, hoping and praying that my medical condition would improve and allow me to carry on with my life as I had previously done. Finally, in 2006, both my primary medical provider and my psychiatrist firmly advised me to file.

After considering all the issues and my total situation, I could fool myself no longer. It did seem sensible that I should submit an application to Social Security for Disability Insurance. I realized, however, that I knew practically nothing about how to go about filing! I was very fortunate to have my whole family’s support. With their help, and the assistance of my doctors and friends, I began my efforts to educate myself about the process.

When disability threatens your income, your peace of mind, and your health, you want to know the best way of navigating the bureaucratic system. I’ve been there and I know what you are going through. I spent countless days researching and reading about the subject. I read all I could find on the subject; I talked to anyone who might be able to help me; and I spent countless hours on the internet going from site to site in an effort to gather as much information as possible on the subject and the process of filing.

I found a lot of information, but I never found any truly good information that addressed this aspect of navigating the SSA system. Everyone I knew that was applying for Social Security Disability was having the same frustrating problems. Just like me, they were having great difficulty figuring out the best method to file a winning application for Social Security Disability Insurance.

That’s when it dawned on me, the fact that everybody, including you and me, needs guidance and help. Everyone needs the information that the SSA seems to never reveal! I told my wife then that someone should write a book about how to file for Social Security Disability that would give the average person all the facts they needed, along with guidance, examples and forms they might need to file. She told me that she could think of no one better to write the book than me! So, I took on the challenge to write this Guide.

This eBook features a step-by-step guide with examples and forms. Now, this information is available to people like you and me. I have tried to show you the total picture of the filing process by taking a sound and unique approach through each requirement.

Applying for Social Security Disability requires a lot of organization; much patience; and a constant mind set that you will get the disability benefits that you deserve. I sincerely hope the Guide will help you form a winning strategy to gain the benefits you well deserve.
